A Win for Students

It doesn't often happen, but occasionally, students win and Bernie loses. Honestly, the story about CLO goes back about 6 months. I won't recap the whole thing, but it is easy to say that Bernie wanted to shut down one of the lowest cost places to live in Gainesville due to safety concerns. Safety concerns that were going to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, were fixed for a fraction of that. CLO said UF had a conflict of interest.
Now, the university is no longer the trustee and CLO and its Alumni Foundation is now in charge. This is a win-win for everybody. The university no longer has the potential liability on them. The students get to keep their Co-Op and low rent. It works out for everyone. The university no longer looks like the bad guy for trying to shut down the poor students house and profit off the land.
Great job to a decidated group of Alumni who found meaning in a small piece of their college life. On some level, all groups should have as a dedicated alumni.

I lived at CLO when I attended UF back in the 90's. I never really considered myself a "poor student", only one who was paying their own way through college and living frugally.
