Quick Thought...
On NAGAS and Rebel Jew's blog, there has been talk of Vice President Washington possible resignation. I won't comment on that right now, but I do think it is odd that the Alligator (the paper that numerous people bash) makes no mention of the possible resignation (like numerous people thought it would). The Gainesville Sun, though, even says that there are rumors on the student blogs. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't at Senate, so maybe a Senator asked Vice President Washington in direct connection to the blogs so maybe that's where they got the information, but I am liking the idea of people using the blogs as sources, as sketchy as we maybe for being anonymous.

I hope you're joking about newspapers using blogs as souces. Also I congratulate you for not conjecturing as to Lydia's status at present or future. She's a public figure and if there's something that becomes public - then by all means it should be discussed and the news acted upon, but until that happens, it's just anonymous people saying generally obnoxious things about Lydia, with little regard for how it affects her.

Gatorblogger,
Don't get me wrong, occassionally the blogs beat the Alligator to the story, well because many of us are self-proclaimed insiders, happen to be sitting at the right table at the right time, or something else lucky happens. We also have access to stuff that the Alligator might not have including numerous listservs.
As for Lydia's possible resignation, I hope there isn't one. I am all for a quick and speedy due process of the outcome. But if there is going to be a resignation, I hope that SG doesn't try and pull the same crap that they did with the former treasurer. I hope they are not waiting for the magical deadline just so they can appoint a person and not do an election.
But I comment when it happens. But I do wonder if the blogs/Alligator had been more investigative into the former treasurer's status would the situation will have occured... oh well... enjoy the beautiful day outside.

Using blogs as sources??? Because the opinions/wackjob "inside scoop on whats going on" based on speculating on what those "evil greeks" are up to is real news. A bunch of deadbeats that sit around and make their own websites about their opinions on something as stupid as student government.... yeah, thats a news source

Gatorman,
Blogs as sources?? What next Swampergate? John, Lydia and Ryan deserve for this speculation to die. They don't deserve to be openly and wrongly attacked. Are these bloggers really going to keep this up for the rest of their administration? And then if/when nothing happens? What then? I hardly think these anonymous bloggers will come out with their "I'm sorrys" and apologies. Bloggers hide confidently in their anonymity and find no problem lashing out whenever they feel they have be jilted. We are senators, cabinet directors, students but we are HUMAN. So are John, Lydia and Ryan. If there is anything we need to know about, we will be told. Until/if then, let this die and let them work on what we put them in office to do.

Don't think of them as "sources" but leads for the newspapers and on several occassions we did have the scoop before the Alligator did (see SP's WongGate in the 2005 election) As previously said, I am holding judgement if and when she resigns, I fully support her using all due process available to her, if there is a reason to...
But I continue to say if someone on the blogs, had said last year that Cosimi might not be "qualified" to continue to hold office say in the summer, this might have caused Cupoli to look closer, perhaps the newspapers to look closer... She would not have continued into the position all the way into January (does anybody really think that was right?)
As for a website about SG, why not? You make websites about your political parties, you spend over 20K-45K combined on elections, and you are going to mock me for making a free website, come on, now... We won't even count your (Greek and Non-Greek alike) swamp Tab bills which could feed small countries
As for attacking John, Lydia, and Ryan, if you consider me attacking, I would ask you where... The only time I attack John was continuing to allow the farce of a Treasurer Election.
I critiqued the awards and cabinet bills, but I did that long before it was the current group (would have done the same under Jamal if I had the website)... And still have had nobody ever explain to me why a Cabinet director is worthy of recognition, but the GSC/BSU/BOCC/PSU/AASU Presidents are not...
I have critiqued Josh's bill, not based on the fact that it is bad bill(I could care less how Senate Prez is picked) but the fact that Josh is not willing to step up in a situation which he was elected to do. And I could really care less of the political implications of the bill, I just wanted people to step up when they are supposed to.
Finally, my only other critque has been the website not being updated (no minutes/agendas/bill/or updated constitution/codes since Fall 2005)
If that is attacking John/Lydia/Ryan, I must say they have some thin skins or you guys commenting do.
As for saying I'm sorry... I think if you look at the Fall Elections, I did a whole post about being wrong. So please let's not say all blogging is worthless.
Thank you for your time
